I

I can always fit
inside the twisting bell
of the saxophone,
the tenor's long shape
as dark as some cavern
of sound.

Someone else's fingers
dance along the keys.
Someone else's breath
pushes the melody.

Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
wrote about the flow,
the creative sense of wandering,
of the mind, letting go

Me, I'm in the moment,
deep inside this space.
Lost inside the harmony,
squeezed tight, in place.

I can always fit
inside the twisting bell
of the saxophone,
the tenor's long shape
as dark as some cavern
of sound.
