"Damaged goods", she was called
Come and see her, one and all
Childhood she smiled through
Oh, but if only they all knew
Adolescence came, didn't get better
Learned to put her pain to letters
Teen mom, what a waste
Often made to hide her face
Adulthood came, her story changed
Their lack of hope, she rearranged
Showed them all what she could do
Threw them a surprise or two
"Damaged goods? Dear, you see,
nothing can ever damage me.
So, throw your stones, a path, I'll build
Show you all. You know I will."
Kept her word, as she said she would
Showed the beauty of "damaged goods"
