What do you want me to do for you?
That's the surprise question of this week, the question that as a husband I have asked my wife. It is the question that as a church pastor I've asked the church, and so found myself with almost no time to give to my kids or wife. It is the question that I sometimes wish I had never asked. It has caused stress in my house and tiredness in my mind and body.
Yet it is the question that Jesus asked. On his way to Jerusalem, on His way to give His life as a payment for our lives. He asked James and John the question and and their reply was to have power. He asked the blind beggar the same question and his answer was to see. Simple and humble.
My question isn't "what can you give me God?" It is "why do you bother?"
But that's what makes you God, and that's what makes Christianity so radical. Grace.
